The long awaited CD from Nick Riffs' Freak Element is here ! " The World's
Alive" was recorded at Metrosync studio in Cleveland Ohio. Nick Riff - vocals,
guitar is joined by Peter Platten on keyboards , synthesizers, Kevin Hines -
bass guitar, and Rob King on drums. They comprise the cosmic powered festival
band, and studio band in this incarnation of Freak Element. Tim Lane from an
early version of Freak Element adds percussion, and Carl Hatcher joins with a
vocal mutation device.
The music ranges from psychedelic rock to spacey psych-pop, to ancient tribal
soundscapes. It is music to let unfold as it happens. An audio companion for
your next psychedelic adventure. Multi-dimensional rock and roll for your next
party on Earth.
Nick Riffs' Freak Element - The World's Alive is the second release on the
Riffdisc label. It is a limited edition of less than 10,000 copies and continues
the series that began with the Magick Museum cd from 2006.
This band shared appearances with Yes, Moody Blues, and Hawkwind, but could have
easily fit on a bill with the Ramones, Dandy Warhols, or the Bevis Frond,
depending on their song selection. Fans of early Pink Floyd may also be
interested.
With references of summoning UFO's, to the exact meaning of the title song, The
World's Alive remains in essence a set of modern psychedelic rock music. Best to
turn off the cell phone and use your imagination on this one.
Psychedelic punk, spacerock, and alternative can
describe the music of Nick Riff. A veteran of the Cleveland, Ohio music scene in
the 80's and 90's Nick Riff virtually disappeared from the planet at
the end of the century after his recordings for Delerium Records in the
UK, and Sonic Swirl in the US established a strong cult following
worldwide.
Nick Riff released Magic Museum in 2006. It is a collection of highlights from
the 20th century that includes out of print material and music no longer
available in CD format. It serves as a perfect introduction to his special style
of hybrid rock music. It is the first in the Riffdisc series that continues now
with Nick Riffs' Freak Element - The World's Alive cd. The Riffdisc series will
continue until 2012 when a new evaluation will occur.
We hope this site will grow as a gathering place
for Nick Riff fans everywhere - the Freak Element. A place
where you can purchase this music securely and maintain your personal
privacy. A meeting of the minds interested in positive planetary evolution
and inner space exploration, for time travelers and the organically
stoned lovers of rock 'n roll.
